About Pathways Academy Pathways students

Located at Downtown Campus, Florida Community College’s Pathways Academy charter school is a partnership among higher education, public education, local businesses, community organizations, governmental agencies, and the regional workforce board.  Pathways is a unique and innovative education program for individuals age 16  to 20 who have dropped out of traditional high schools. The Pathways model combines a flexible instructional approach in core academic areas with technical training in a college environment.  Program completers earn a high school credential and technical certification in the high-wage, high-demand fields of:

  • Information Technology
  • Business and Financial Services
  • Computerized Manufacturing and Robotics
  • Automotive Service and Collision Technology
  • Biomedical Equipment Technology
  • Biotechnology Laboratory Technology
  • Construction Management and Trades

Mission, Goals and Educational Philosophy

Pathways Academy is committed to providing academic, career and character development instruction for high school dropouts and for students at high risk of dropping out. By utilizing a learner-centered and cooperative learning approach organized around real-life experiences, students will be inspired to acquire and use the knowledge needed to be productive and contributing members of the Jacksonville workforce.

Governance

The Florida Community College at Jacksonville Board of Trustees serves as the governing board for Pathways Academy.  Dr. Edythe Abdullah, Campus President of the Downtown Campus, provides administrative oversight for Pathways.
